NVIDIA today held a press conference where it announced its partnership with Japanese mobile game publisher DeNA to bring new games for smartphones. At the press conference, Nintendo also teased its next-gen console, codenamed ‘NX’.
One of the slides that Nintendo showed during the press event today referred to ‘dedicated game system NX’. Nintendo’s Chief executive Satoru Iwata told media that the company is developing the next-gen NX console and that more details on the project will be shared next year.
After the highly successful Wii console, Nintendo released the Wii U in the year 2012. The latest Nintendo console has struggled to attract buyers, despite being launched earlier than Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One console. So Nintendo definitely does have a lot riding on the ‘NX’ as it will aim to repeat the success it gained with the Wii console.
Nintendo also announced that it will work with DeNA to come up with a new online membership service that will work across various platforms such as smartphones, tablets, PC, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and the upcoming ‘NX’ game system.
