Nintendo today made it official that its next console, codenamed “NX”, will launch worldwide in March next year.
The news was shared in the company’s latest financial release, which stated that company is currently working on a new gaming platform codenamed ‘NX’ and that it expects to launch the platform in March 2017 globally.
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima told Nikkei that the NX will not merely succeed the 3DS or the Wii U but is going to be a new system altogether. When asked why the NX wasn’t releasing this year during the holiday season, Kimishima replied saying Nintendo wants to ensure that there are enough games available for the NX at launch. The company also has no plans of showing off the console at E3 2016. The focus at E3 this year will be on new Zelda game, which is scheduled to release next year for both the Wii U and NX.
