Nexus 5 press shot leaks, a refreshing look at KitKat’s home screen

A press image of Google’s Nexus 5 handset has purportedly been leaked.

The image, which displays Google’s rework of the notification bar and several icons, was first obtained by Mobile Syrup.  As various reports have already noted, the Nexus 5 is a product of LG’s hardware prowess and Google’s software ideology.

The Nexus 5 is basically a spinoff of LG’s G2 handset, and so we can safely assume that the device will feature a Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM, as well as LTE support.

What most are looking forward to from the Nexus 5 is its off-contract affordability.  If Google’s method of wooing shoppers in the past is of any indication, many are expecting that the Nexus 5 will have an extremely attractive retail price.

Of course, we can’t neglect to mention Android 4.4 KitKat, which will also make its debut soon.  The latest sweet treat from Google isn’t the Android 5.0 “Key Lime Pie” that some were looking forward to, but as we can see from the supposed leaked press shot of the Nexus 5, KitKat does boast some visual tweaks that might be appealing to Android users.

The new Google co-branded handset won’t be anything spectacular if rumors and leaks hold true, but at least it won’t be a dud either.  So here’s to a nice and affordable handset with no manufacturer and carrier bloats.
