New Super Mario Bros. 2 revives classic NES memories with new DLC

Nintendo has released a new DLC for the 3DS game New Super Mario Bros.2, named as the "Golden Classic Course Pack". It can be freely downloaded starting November 27, 2012 to January 31, 2013.

On November 27, 2012 Nintendo made available a new DLC for the recently released Nintendo 3DS game New Super Mario Bros. 2. The "Golden Classic Course Pack", as it is named, features some of the classic playable stages and levels in previous Mario games in the NES (FamiCom) console, particularly from the very first Super Mario Bros. game and Super Mario Bros. 3. The release of the DLC was a commemorative act that celebrates the game's current world gold coin record of 300 billion coins.

The DLC still continues the strong emphasis of the game in collecting gold coins. In fact, the classic levels that are available in the DLC have been modified to provide a whole new gaming experience and perspective that meshes the old elements and layout of the first games to the modern mechanics of the new game. Players will now have the chance to play out the standard game style of New Super Mario Bros. 2, while feeling the nostalgia given by the layout of the entire stage. Of course, the levels are also modified in a way that even new players would be able to enjoy these classic level settings.

The DLC is available for free from November 27, 2012, to January 31, 2013. After the promotion period, the DLC will still be available for download, but at a price point of 200 yen (2.5 USD).
