New Microsoft Surface Pro launches in Singapore

Microsoft has finally launched the new Surface Pro in Singapore three months after the 2-in-1 convertible laptop was unveiled at an international media event in Shanghai China. The fifth generation Surface Pro 2017 features a new interior architecture as well as a streamlined external design with softer edges and cameras built to fade into the bezel, and it boast improved 13.5-hour battery life and performance due to the use of the latest 7th generation Intel Core processors, as well as a new fanless design for the m3 and i5 processor versions, which are just 8.5mm thin and 767 grams in weight for the lightest model.

According to Veronica Chiu, Windows and Devices Group Lead, Microsoft Singapore, the new Surface Pro “delivers the versatility of a laptop and a creative studio in one thin, lightweight device’ and Microsoft demonstrated the improved Surface Pen for graphic use. Coupled with the Surface Pro’s 12.3-inch PixelSense touch display the new Surface Pen is twice as accurate as its predecessor, and Microsoft has now included pen based interaction across Windows 10 and Office 365.

Strangely Microsoft have kept a proprietary power brick and charging port for the Surface Pro, instead of the now very common USB Type-C

The new Surface Pro Signature Type Cover also provides better tactile feel and typing accuracy with the use of high quality scissor mechanism and 1.3mm of key travel while a full-size glass trackpad has five-finger multi-touch capabilities. The Signature Type Cover is wrapped in durable Alcantara leather for comfort and looks and will be available in Platinum, Black, Burgundy and Cobalt Blue to match your personal style.

The keypad feels good, with excellent spacing between keys and good amount of travel

The new Surface Pro and accessories are now available for purchase in Singapore from the Microsoft Store, as well as authorised retailers including Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Harvey Norman, and Newstead.
