New 9.7” iPad Pro isn’t as powerful as its bigger sibling

iPad Pro

Apple’s new 9.7” iPad Pro isn’t quite as powerful as you might think.

Not only is the new iPad Pro variant smaller than the 12.9-inch model in terms of size, Apple has also underclocked the Apple A9X chip inside it. While the A9X in the bigger iPad Pro is claimed to offer up to 2.5 times greater CPU performance and up to 5 times faster graphics, the A9X in the 9.7” iPad Pro is “only” 2.4 times faster in terms of CPU power and offers 4.3 times faster graphics.

In addition to being powered by an underclocked Apple A9X chip, the 9.7” iPad Pro is also less impressive when it comes to RAM. Unlike the 12.9-inch model that includes 4GB of RAM, the new smaller iPad Pro only gets 2GB of RAM.
