Netgear’s Wi-Fi 6 Routers, Smart Speakers Bring the Next-Gen Smart Home to Singapore

Netgear, one of the oldest networking companies in the world, announced the launch of a suite of next-gen networking and connected devices in Singapore today.

Established in 1996, Netgear has since been the pioneer of multi-antenna routers in 2003 with its RangeMax family, along with its introduction of range extenders in 2006. With its latest launch of Wi-Fi 6 routers and unique connected home products, Netgear showcases its vision for the connected future – not only in terms of ubiquity, but in terms of quality and security.

Now available in Singapore are four key devices: the Meural Canvas digital image frame and image library service, the Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi System with Orbi Voice Smart Speaker, the Nighthawk AX Wi-Fi 6 family of routers, and the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR300 Wi-Fi Router.

Singaporean users will be pleased to access work by local artist such as Larry Teo, with works like the Marina Bay Skyline.

The Meural Canvas Leonora is available in white and black, and comes with a three-year Meural Art Library content subscription at a SRP of SGD 1,499.

The Merual Canvas Winslow comes in Walnut, similarly with a three-year Meural Art Library subscription at an SRP of SGD 1,699.

Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi System with Orbi Voice Smart Speaker

Launched a while back in the US market, the Orbi Voice Smart Speaker comes to Singapore with full compatibility with the Orbi Mesh Wi-Fi System. Together, they provide encompassing Wi-Fi with smart voice assistant support.

With high-quality audio crafted in collaboration with Harmon Kardon, the Orbi Voice is capable of playing your favourite tracks from top music streaming platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, Deezer, amongst other services. The Orbi Voice is also compatible with alternative sources of playback like Audible, podcasts, radio stations and news briefs.

Nighthawk AX Wi-Fi 6 Router Family

Wi-Fi 6, or 802.11ax in previous-gen nomenclature, is next generation in Wi-Fi standards and promises to be much, much faster than the current generation – the 14-year old Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). But improvements on the new standard encompass much, much more than simple speed boosts. At a theoretical cap of 9.6 Gbps up from 3.5 Gbps on Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6 goes the extra mile by enabling users to split the bandwidth up across a whole network of devices.

By improving the network across an increased number of devices, the average home with ever-increasing Wi-Fi-connected devices would present fewer issues with throttling the previous standard presented. Only a limited of devices can communicate with routers at any one time, which means overall speeds will inevitably slow down no matter the bandwidth.

The Nighthawk AX Wifi 6 family is designed precisely for our inevitable march to swarms of networked devices in our homes: with the AX12, AX8 and AX4.

The Nighthawk AX12 12-stream Wi-Fi 6 Router retails at an SRP of SGD 799, while the AX6000 AX8 8-stream Wi-Fi 6 router comes in at SGD 659. The AX3000 AX4 4-stream Wi-Fi router retails at an SRP of SGD 399.

Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR300 Wi-Fi Router

Gaming, more than ever, is on the rise, and Netgear’s Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR300 Wi-Fi Router joins its Pro Gaming product range in Singapore.

Compatible with a wide variety of platforms, the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR300 Wi-Fi Router provides extensive control over in-game networking options. Image: Netgear

Compatible with PCs, along with consoles like Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, the XR300 sets itself apart with a unique gaming dashboard powered by DumaOS that optimises each online gaming experience by granting deep control of network settings across popular titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends and PUBG.
