Navy conducts historic first ever UAV aerial refueling

CCv2HwhVEAAndGt

For the first time in aviation history, a UAV has successfully demonstrated its capabilities to conduct aerial refueling.

The X-47B unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) took to the skies recently to show off its ability pair with an Omega Air KC-707 in mid-air.  Historic as the event may be, both of the Navy’s X-47B are both scheduled for decommission, finishing just 20 percent of their total intended flight hours. Even if the X-47Bs are destined for the aircraft graveyard, the technologies they helped to introduce will provide the Navy with better aerial support in the future.
