Mysterious Samsung device visits Antutu, scores a record breaking 95,972[Update]

Samsung

After yesterday’s report of Samsung having shortened the Galaxy S7 development with a modular process, a mysterious Samsung device carrying the model number SM-G8508S has made its way to Antutu benchmark and set a new record.

It managed to score a whopping 95,972 on the benchmark, significantly higher than any smartphone currently available. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 5 phablet had gone through the benchmark recently and ‘only’ managed to score 69,702.

It isn’t yet clear if the device is a tablet or a smartphone, but going by the model number, it is more likely to be a smartphone than a tablet. While we can’t be sure, it could possibly be a Galaxy S7 (“Jungfrau”) prototype under testing. The device is expected to utilize both Samsung’s in-house Exynos SoC in some variants and a Qualcomm Snapdragon in others.

Update: The Antutu listing turned out to be fake. The SM-G8508S model number belongs to the Galaxy Alpha, a device that usually scores around 39,000 on Antutu.
