MSI GeForce 6600GT PCIe Review

Today we have a review of MSI’s NX6600GT-TD128E, MSI’s sub $ 200 PCIe graphics card offering. We’ve already reviewed a handful of 6600GT cards, so does MSI’s card have what it takes to stick out from the pack? Come and take a closer look.

Today we’re bringing you a review of MSI’s GeForce 6600GT PCIe part, the NX6600GT-TD128E. Over the last few weeks we’ve taken a look at GeForce 6600GT PCIe based offerings from XFX and Albatron, both of which performed well but lacked in either overclockability or bundle. The GeForce 6600GT is our GPU of choice for the mainstream markets, as the cards based on the GPU have dominated in most of our performance tests over the last few weeks.

MSI’s GeForce 6600GT offering comes in two flavors, the NX6600GT-TD128E, and the NX6600GT-VTD128. The only differences between the two are in price – $ 187 for the TD128E and $ 222 for the VTD128, and also in the fact that the VTD128 features VIVO capability while the TD128E doesn’t. A major selling point of the 6600GT is of course SLI capability, but we’ll be testing the NX6600GT-TD128E’s SLI performance in a separate article we’ll be posting in the next few weeks.

The card’s we’ll be testing against will include both the XFX GeForce 6600GT and the Albatron GeForce 6600GT, as well as ATI’s mainstream offering, the ATI Radeon X700 Pro. So join us as we take a look at sub $ 200 mainstream PCIe card, the NX6600GT-TD128E.

Also included are the cables that will help you output to a television, S-Video for standard TV’s and component for HDTV’s.
