Mobile World Congress 2010 Coverage

Mobile World Congress

The annual Mobile World Congress kicked off in Barcelona, Spain on 15th February with a huge turn out of mobile professionals who came from all over the world. The four-day event will see announcements from various companies including Google, Microsoft and Samsung.

Security is extremely tight at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) convention. We have to show our pass together with a photo ID in order to be let into the compound. Once we got through the entrance, there were already booths lined up on both sides of the streets. From the above pic, you can see a huge display with live video cast on top of the INQ trailer.

On the right from the entrance is Hall 8. Here, the first booth we came across is Motorola which is showcasing their latest Motorola phones, including the Droid.

At the Motorola Booth, we also saw the Backflip and Quench which have yet to be available in Singapore. The Backflip has a QWERTY keypad and a navigation pad at the back of the display, while the Quench is a touchscreen smartphone with MOTOBLUR.

Texas Instruments also has a booth at MWC and showcased their DLP Pico projectors, including some mobile phone with projector capability.

Emporia, an Austrian mobile phone manufacturer, has a booth at MWC. The maker is known for their large button phones designed mainly for the elderly.

Garmin-ASUS has announced some of their latest mobile phones here which include the nuvifone A50, the company’s first Android phone.

VR-Zone is a leading online technology news publication reporting on bleeding edge trends in PC and mobile gadgets, with in-depth reviews and commentaries.
