Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 830 chipset from Qualcomm.
Microsoft recently updated its “Minimum hardware requirements” page for the Windows 10 platform, adding support for the MSM8998 chipset, which is the codename for Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 830 SoC. The chipset is also rumored to support up to 8GB of memory, although it remains to be seen if Microsoft will decide to equip the Surface Phone with 8GB of memory.
The Surface Phone is expected to be launched next year and could arrive in three different variants, each selling at a different price point. No specifications have surfaced so far, so we might need to wait until the end of the year for the first rumored specs to show up online.
