Microsoft extends its Games with Gold initiative indefinitely

Microsoft announced today that the Games with Gold initiative for Xbox Live Gold users is being extended indefinitely. Through this program, users get two free games for free on a monthly basis.

Microsoft is extending the Games with Gold initiative for Xbox Live Gold users.

Originally launched at the E3 conference in June, the promotion lets users who subscribe to Xbox Live Gold get two games for free. For the month of October, the free games are Might and Magic Clash of Heroes and Halo 3. Each game is available for free for 15 days, during which time users can download the game.

Even if a user cancels the Xbox Live Gold subscription, the games will remain in their game library. The Games with Gold initiative was originally set to end by the end of the year, but it looks like Microsoft is extending the promotion due to the overwhelming demand.

It is not yet clear whether this offer would be extended to Microsoft’s next-gen console, the Xbox One. Notable games that have been offered through the Games with Gold initiative include the likes of Fable III, Assassin’s Creed II and Rainbow Six: Vegas.  Xbox Live Gold users can download Halo 3 for free through the latter half of this month.
