The Honor 5X follows an extremely popular predecessor in the country.
Huawei has launched the Honor 5X in India today, bringing its latest affordable premium device to the world’s second largest smartphone market. The Honor 5X comes after the Honor 4X, which was a major success in India, and the device is priced at Rs. 12,999 (roughly $190). Its highlights include a full metal body, a fingerprint sensor, and the new Snapdragon 616 processor.
At the front is a 5.5-inch Full HD display of the IPS variety, and the horsepower is churned out by the Snapdragon 616 CPU with eight processor cores and the Adreno 405 GPU. There’s also 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera with 1.4 micron pixel size, 16GB of storage expandable via a microSD slot, and a 3,000 mAh battery. 4G LTE connectivity is on-board, and the phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s EMUI 3.0 UX on top. The fingerprint sensor sits at the back and can unlock the phone in just 0.5 seconds.
The Honor 5X will be available through Flipkart and Amazon, the two major retailers in the country, from February 1st. Pre-orders go live today, with the device offered in Silver and Sunset Gold colors.
