MediaTek’s new flagship Helio X20 chip has managed to leave the competition behind in GeekBench.
A listing on the GeekBench database reveals the Helio X20 manages to score an incredibly high 7037 in the multi-core GeekBench test, which is significantly higher than what current flagship chips from Qualcomm and Samsung are capable of achieving. The score is also comfortably ahead of the 5400-ish scores managed by the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
In the single-core test, the Helio X20 trails the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 as well as Apple’s new A9 SoC. One chipset that is expected to perform better than the Helio X20 in both single-core as well as multi-core tests is the upcoming Samsung Exynos 8890 SoC.
The MediaTek Helio X20 SoC is a deca-core tri-cluster chip with 2 ARM Cortex-A57 cores and twin quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 cores.
