Logitech Acquires Gaming Headset Manufacturer Astro For US$85 million

Logitech had just acquired leading gaming headset maker Astro for US$85 million (S$118 million) in Cash. The deal is expected to close in August 2017.

Logitech G is currently the leader in gaming peripherals such as keyboards, mice and streaming webcams. With the addition of Astro, this lead will extend to premium gaming headsets as well, with an emphasis on the console gaming market.

Says Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G: “ASTRO is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console e-sports athletes. It’s a perfect complement to Logitech G’s focus on PC gaming and we couldn’t be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products. Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere.”

Astro will operate as part of the Logitech G brand and further develop their line of popular gaming headsets, such as we have seen in the Astro A40, and more recently the Astro A10, a more affordable make targeted at the mass-market.
