The new lineup falls under the EF9500 series and will be offered in two sizes – 55-inch and 65-inch. Both the models are identical as far as specs go and come with support for HDR content thanks to the use of the HDMI 2.0a standard. Although HDR content is not available yet, it will start to become available once the Ultra HD Blu-ray discs start shipping.
The new flat models will sell alongside the EF9600 curved OLED models but the new models aren’t exactly any cheaper. The 55-inch EF9500 will be priced at $5,500 while the 65-inch variant will be sold at $7,000.
Both models will be released next month in select markets, after LG showcases the new models at IFA in Berlin.
