A trademark application discovery recently suggested that LG is working on an LG G5 SE, perhaps to take on the newly launched iPhone SE. It seems LG has let it slip that such a device indeed exists, as its official Quick Cover case accessory mentions compatibility with both an LG G5 and an LG G5 SE, as revealed by retailer Mobile Fun.
Mobile Fun is a major online retailer and received the accessory directly from the company. This is a pretty big indication of the G5 SE being an actual device. However, since the same cover is compatible with both devices, it looks like the G5 SE won’t be a smaller variant of the G5, unlike the iPhone SE. In this case, the “special edition” suffix might actually mean better specs/features, although right now there is no other information on the LG G5 SE so we will have to wait for the official announcement to see how it differs from the regular G5.
The LG G5 recently went on sale worldwide and comes with a 5.3-inch Quad HD LCD display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual rear camera setup, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 2,800 mAh battery, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Friends modules for the G5 allow users to extend functionality and add new features, such as a larger battery and better audio. It’s the first flagship from LG to feature a metallic body.
