LG G Watch specs and release date leak online

The specs of the LG G Watch have been leaked through what are presumably pages from the device’s manual, with a separate leak offering details on its release date and pricing in the UK.

LG’s smartwatch might not be hitting the headlines as much as the Moto 360, but it looks like the G Watch could be the first smartwatch based on Google’s Android Wear platform to make it into the hands of consumers. According to Android Authority, the G Watch will be shown off at the upcoming Google I/O conference, and will be given away to attending developers for free. As for the retail price, the folks over at MoDaCo suggest the watch will be priced at £169.99 (about $285), at least in the UK, where it will reportedly go up for sale on July 7th.

On the hardware front, leaked images reveal that the G Watch will sport a 1.65″ display of 280×280 resolution, a Snapdragon AQP8026 chipset, Bluetooth 4.0, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and a 400 mAh battery with battery life quoted at 36 hours of standby time with all the sensors turned on. That sounds rather low, but the usage times will likely be better in general conditions, especially if users get an option to disable the always-on display feature the G Watch will have.

Of course, it’s tough to say how the final experience will be considering no details on Android Wear’s actual operation have been released yet, but with Google I/O set to kick off on June 25, it won’t be too long before we find out what the wearable platform and LG’s first smartwatch have to offer.
