Lenovo Mobile Group President Chen Xudong recently told a news reporter “The new organizational structure will be immediately released”. The new organizational structure will comprise mainly of Motorola management staff, leading the original Lenovo Mobile division henceforth.
For the future, Lenovo plans to use its dual-brand strategy by positioning ZUK as its flagship internet brand and Motorola as its high-end brand for international markets.
Xudong did reiterate that going forward it expects to have a smaller portfolio of smartphones. Despite being one of the largest smartphone vendors in the world, Lenovo’s mobile division posted a loss of around $292 million in the first quarter. So it comes as no surprise that in future it wants to chase profits rather than volume.
