Leaked photos show off the Nokia Lumia 530

The Lumia 530 would be the successor to the hugely popular Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 Windows Phone handsets.

Leaked images, posted on a Chinese website, purport to show a colorful Lumia 530 in the flesh, following the phone’s appearance at the FCC.

The Lumia 520 (and its slightly upgraded counterpart, the Lumia 525) has been one of the most successful Windows Phone devices, so it’s only natural that Nokia Microsoft is now preparing a sequel, one that runs Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. The images reveal a handset that looks similar to the Lumia 630, with on-screen navigation buttons that will no doubt help Microsoft keep the price tag low.

A low price tag will also be a result of the phone’s entry-level specs, which are said to include a 4.3-inch WVGA display (larger than the 4-inch display on the Lumia 520), a Snapdragon 200 chipset, and 512 MB of RAM. There’s no front-facing camera, though it will offer dual SIM slots, an important feature for emerging countries that will be a huge part of the phone’s target market.

There’s no word on the actual price of the Lumia 530 or its release date, though with the phone’s FCC certification complete, it shouldn’t be long before Microsoft makes it official.
