Leaked images of Huawei Ascend Mate phablet surface

Phablets are becoming more and more prevelant as users want more from phone makers.  Huawei is even jumping on board to create a new hybrid and this one is going to be an absolute beast!

Let's start with a small back story here.  I got my first Android from MetroPCS, it was a Huawei Ascend, the original.  The phone had a single core 600MHz CPU which I over clocked to 867MHz.  Advance forward and now I have a LG Esteem with a single core 1GHz CPU which is over clocked to 1.7GHz.  This new phone takes both of these CPUs' and laughs.  And for good reasons.

The leaked images that surfaced a couple days ago show this beast of a phone to be pretty plain in design, but the reported internals are some of the best you will see in a phablet to date.  Reports indicated that this will have a 6.1" FULL HD 1920 x 1080 resolution screen, 2GB RAM and a quad-core 1.8GHz CPU.  The actual chip will most likely be a K3V3 which is their 3rd generation CPU.  This information has been confirmed by a Huawei executive.  The actual release date isn't known yet but it will most likely be around the time of CES or MWC.  As it stands it will be receiving the Jelly Bean treatment of Android 4.1 but that is subject to change.  To top it all off it's got a 4000mAh battery which will be the largest battery in a smartphone to date.

Like I said, this will be a beast of a phone.  If this is anything like the Ascend P1 then we are probably going to see changes in the specs as time goes on to different chips and screens and such but either way, WOW!  Now as said before this is a confirmed phone – we know it is coming but we will still follow it to see what, if any, changes are made to keep you up to date.
