It’s official, LEGO is doing a Back to the Future set

Here's a sort of early Christmas present from the LEGO team. They announced today that the Back to the Future suggestion received enough votes, over 10,000, on LEGO's CUUSOO site to make it reality. You will however have to wait until next year for it.

I don't know what it is with geeks and LEGO but there is no getting around the fact that we love ourselves some serious LEGO building kits and it doesn't get any more serious that the suggestions you find on LEGO's CUUSOO site.

This of course is where you go to suggest, and vote on different kits that you really want LEGO to make. The last kit to move from idea to production was the Minecraft kit, but now that the Back to the Future idea reached the requisite 10,000 votes it will be the next kit to hit the production pipeline.

The details regarding when it will be available, and for how much, is still to be worked out but on the good side we did find out that there will be a set for each of the three movies along with the famous LEGO minifigures for the movie characters.

Now that we have gotten this far in the process we can only hope that there will be more details soon to tease us with.
