Apple could be on track for another stellar quarter.
Q4 2014 was undoubtedly great for Apple. The company posted a net profit of $18 billion and that’s the most any company in the world has ever posted in a single quarter. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus helped take the sales of Apple’s smartphones to new heights and it looks like that momentum is going to continue.
According to whispers from the supply chain Apple’s smartphone sales could exceed 50 million units in the current quarter which ends in March. At the same time last year Apple’s shipments stood at 43.7 million units.
It would be yet another feather in Apple’s cap if this figure is achieved. The company has never achieved 50 million shipments in a single quarter outside of the holiday season and if that happens this time around it would be a 14.4 percent increase as opposed to the same time last year.
These whispers from the supply chain are aligned with what the folks on Wall Street suggest. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster actually predicts that in the existing quarter Apple will ship 51 million iPhone units globally, making it another strong quarter for sales.
