Apple last released iOS 8.1.2 back in December 2014.
iOS 8 came out last year and since only one major update has been released for this iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system. Multiple incremental updates have come and gone, like iOS 8.1.2, which was released back in December and only brought the usual slew of bug fixes and performance tweaks. It was reported at the time that Apple had begun work on iOS 8.1.3 since this update didn’t address battery issues that most users were facing.
Now there are whispers about an impending iOS 8 update. A new iOS 8 update is expected to be released at some point in the coming week. The source of this information only says that the update will be released without clarifying whether it will be a public release or a seed that’s only meant for developers.
It is too soon to say right now whether this will be iOS 8.1.3 or a major update that might bump up the version number to iOS 8.2. In that case one can expect some new features to accompany the update as well apart from fixes and tweaks. This upcoming update is expected to land either on Tuesday or Wednesday in the coming week.
