Even though Intel Core i7 desktop processors based on the company’s 7th generation ‘Kaby Lake’ architecture are not expected to be out anytime soon, the flagship Kaby Lake Core i7-7700K CPU has been listed for pre-order by an Estonian online retailer website. The processor has been listed online with a € 360.35 price tag, which converts to around $402 or SGD $549.
According to the specs listed by the retailer, Intel Core i7-7700K is going to be a quad-core processor with eight threads and a base clock speed of 4.2 GHz. The Turbo Boost frequency is listed to be 4.5 GHz, which happens to be higher than what was previously rumored. It will also come with 8MB of L3 cache and have a TDP rating of 95W.
Just like Skylake, the Kaby Lake Core i7-7700K will utilize the LGA1151 socket and could even support Intel 100-series chipset motherboards. Multiple listings spotted on Geekbench seem to show Kaby Lake desktop processors running on the Asus Z170-K motherboard, which confirm that the upcoming Kaby Lake processors will indeed run fine on 100-series boards.
Intel Kaby Lake processors will be manufactured on Intel’s latest 14nm+ node, which is claimed to deliver up to 12% improved performance over older Skylake chips manufactured on the older 14nm process. The desktop Kaby Lake lineup will also include the Core i7-7700, Core i7-7700T, Core i5-7600K, Core i5-7600, Core i5-7600T, Core i5-7500, Core i5-7500T, Core i5-7400, and the Core i5-7400T.
