The images show a thick hump where the camera sensor is placed.
Android Marshmallow is close to completion according to Google, and the company’s first device – or devices – to run the next version of the OS will be due for announcement in the couple of months. Huawei has come on-board this year to help the Android maker in its quest to make smartphones that showcase what unadulterated Android should look and behave, and the Chinese manufacturer’s upcoming Nexus phone might just have leaked in the flesh.
The images have a high chance of being the real deal and show things like a fingerprint sensor, dual front-facing speakers, and the Nexus logo on the back of the device. What is notable here is the fact that the upper part of the device that houses the rear camera is thicker than the rest of the body, suggesting that the camera has a few unknown tricks up its sleeves. It’s also possible the hump is simply a result of the overall slimness of the phone, an occurrence we have seen on numerous Chinese smartphones that have attempted to become the world’s thinnest smartphones.
Google hasn’t been very adept at stemming leaks of its Nexus lineup, so the phone seen in these images is likely to be the upcoming Huawei Nexus smartphone. Of course, official confirmation is still more than two months away, but there should be an onslaught of similar leaks in the coming weeks to reveal more about Google’s next flagships.
