Huawei Mate 9 will not debut at company’s pre-IFA event in September

Huawei Mate 9

Turns out the Huawei Mate 8 successor will not be unveiled on September 1.

This was revealed today in a Weibo post made by Bruce Lee, mobile product line manager at Huawei. We aren’t too surprised though, as the Mate 8 was only announced towards the end of last year. Unless Huawei changes its mind, the Mate 9 should debut sometime in November this year.

The Huawei Mate 9 is rumored to be powered by the Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, which hasn’t yet been announced yet. It is also expected to come with a dual-camera setup at the back. But unlike the current crop of Huawei smartphones that feature two 12MP camera sensors, the Mate 9 is rumored to be equipped with dual 20MP sensors.

Now that we know that the Huawei Mate 9 won’t be announced in September, we do wonder what the company has in store for us at its pre-IFA event.
