Ahead of Huawei’s November 3 media event in Munich, some new live images of the phablet have leaked online, along with some specs. As we reported recently, Huawei will also be announcing the more expensive Mate 9 Pro alongside the Mate 9. How expensive you ask? Well, if trusted smartphone leakster Evan Blass is to be believed, the top end Mate 9 Pro will retail for around $1,300. That’s more expensive than the Apple iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB internal memory.
The live images leaked online appear to be of the regular Mate 9 as it sports a flat display. The Mate 9 Pro will feature a dual-curved 5.9-inch display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution, with support for Google’s new Daydream VR platform. As for the Mate 9, it will come with a 5.9-inch flat display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution.
Along with the live images of the Mate 9, we also have an alleged China Mobile listing for the Mate 9 Pro, confirming its key specifications. According to the listing, the phablet will come with the Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, 20MP + 12MP dual camera setup at the back, and Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with the company’s Emotion UI custom skin running on top.
From previous leaks we expect the regular Mate 9 to come with the same Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Rest of the specs are expected to be identical to the Mate 9 Pro.
