Analyst Pan Jiutang has suggested that Huawei could launch a new flagship phablet later this year, powered by the Kirin 960 chipset.
The Kirin 960, he says, will be manufactured on a 16nm process and is likely to utilize ARM’s next-gen Artemis cores and an octa-core GPU. On the connectivity front, the chipset is said to support LTE Cat.12 and CDMA networks. Support for CDMA networks could mean the Mate 9 might make its way to the US market as well.
The analyst did not reveal anything regarding the specs of the phablet, except saying that it too will feature a dual camera setup at the back, similar to the P9 and the P9 Plus. However, the Mate 9 will sport higher resolution 20MP sensors as opposed to 12MP.
