Huawei Kirin 950 benchmark surfaces online, outperforms Exynos 7420

The first benchmarks of Huawei’s upcoming Kirin 950 SoC have surfaced online. As you would expect from a chipset using ARM Cortex-A72 cores, the scores are mighty impressive.

In the Geekbench single-core test, the Huawei Kirin 950 SoC scored 1,909 points. That’s a pretty impressive score when you consider the fact that the Exynos 7420 chip manages a score of around 1,400.

In the multi-core test the Kirin 950 scored 6,096, outperforming the Exynos 7420 by quite a wide margin. Smartphones powered by the Exynos 7420 manage to score around 4,900 in this test.

Based on previous leaks, the Kirin 950 chip will be an octa-core chip with a quad ARM Cortex-A53 + quad ARM Cortex-A72 configuration. The Cortex-A72 cluster will be clocked at an impressively high 2.4GHz clock. The first smartphones powered by the chip are expected to be out by the end of the year.
