At CES this year, Huawei announced that it is bringing the Honor brand to the US, starting with the Honor 5X. Even though the handset currently runs Android Lollipop, it is going to be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future, reveals a new report from Android Authority.

Huawei reached out to the website and confirmed that the handset will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, together with the latest version of the Honor custom UI layer, EMUI4. There is some more good news too. In addition to updating the Honor 5X to Android 6.0, the company has promised that it will be releasing regular Android security patches as well.

The Honor 5X has been priced at $199.99 in the US and is currently available from major online retailers such as Amazon and Newegg. Orders are expected to begin shipping January 31 onwards.
