HTC today surprised everyone by silently announcing a new “One” branded handset, the new mid-range One S9.
The smartphone comes with a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD display and is powered by the Helio X10 octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz. Just like the chipset, rest of the key hardware specs aren’t too remarkable either. We’re looking at 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable onboard storage, 13MP rear camera with OIS and an f/2.0 aperture lens, 4MP UltraPixel selfie camera, and a 2840mAh battery. There is no fingerprint scanner on offer, but it does come with BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with the manufacturer’s Sense UI layer on top.
The HTC One S9 has been listed at €499 in Germany, which suggests HTC hasn’t yet learnt from its mistakes in the past. Considering the specs and features of the One S9, it most definitely doesn’t deserve to be priced that high. No info yet regarding availability or pricing in other markets.
