As always, unlocked variants of the devices will be first in line for the updates.
HTC recently started updating its 2014 flagship, the One M8, to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It was surprising to see the company not say anything about its newest flagship, the One M9, and when it would get Marshmallow, but it has now rectified that by revealing that the M9 will also get the major update sometime this month.
HTC has also confirmed that the newly released Android 6.0.1 update will be arriving on the One A9 in December as well. The One A9 is the first non-Nexus smartphone to run Android Marshmallow, and the Taiwanese manufacturer has said the latest updates to Android will arrive on the A9 within 15 days, a promise it looks poised to keep with 6.0.1. It’s not clear when the M9 will receive 6.0.1, though it should be sometime soon given HTC’s speed with software updates.
Lots of questions on this, so quick update: M9 unlocked Marshmallow OS update and A9 6.0.1 (with updated emoji) is on target for this month.
