By now, it is no secret that HTC’s latest flagship One M9 hasn’t done well at all, leading the company to its worst quarter in history. But it looks like HTC hasn’t given up just yet, as it plans to launch a new ‘Hero’ device in October this year.
This was revealed by HTC’s new CEO Cher Wang at the company’s annual shareholder meeting. Wang offered an apology to shareholder’s for HTC’s dropping stock prices but assured them that the company aims to make amends by launching a new ‘Hero’ device in October and will adopt a new strategy for its 2016 flagship smartphone.
What this means is that the new ‘Hero’ device that Wang mentioned about during the shareholder meeting, could just be a refreshed variant of the One M9 or a parallel flagship device.
As for the company’s 2016 flagship, it will reportedly feature an all-new design, which means the ‘One Series’ family design will not be making an appearance next year. Some ‘innovative features’ will also be apparently included in the device.
