It has been a period of calamity for rising Singaporean tech star Honestbee. Founded as an online grocery and food delivery service, Honestbee had since expanded into courier and laundry services, and into key markets in Asia: including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangkok, Philippines and Japan
Just earlier this month, the company had made headlines when co-founder Joel Sng stepped down as CEO as an “ongoing strategic review” of the business. Brian Koo, a key investor, has since assumed responsibilities at the company.
Just today (15 May), Honestbee announced that they will cease to operate its key food delivery service in Singapore, along with its laundry service. However, its grocery delivery services, along with physical grocery store, Habitat by Honestbee, remains open. These changes will take effect from 20 May 2019. Options for food delivery and laundry services remain on the company’s website and mobile applications.
Its food delivery partners, who mostly work on a part-time basis, would be inevitably affected by this decision by Honestbee.
