Hideous 3D-printed toothbrush can clean your teeth in 6 seconds

What happens when Mr. 3D printer meets Ms. oral hygiene?  Well, the union can potentially go wrong, and the result is an ugly 3D-printed toothbrush that makes your post-braces retainer look good.

Blizzident, the company that came up with the idea, is now selling their in-mouth toothbrush for $299, with replacement bristles for $159.  Naturally, you’re thinking that you can buy several years’ worth of normal tooth brushes with that sum, but can these mediocre brushes-on-a-handle ensure your mouth is refreshingly clean in just 6 seconds?

It’s still up for debate whether or not Blizzident’s custom molded toothbrush can speedily clean every nooks and crannies, but ever since people began using toothbrushes nothing has changed much about the form and function of this essential tool, which makes this kind of cool.

The Blizzident toothbrush is customized to fit people’s mouth to ensure that every bristles can effectively cleanse people’s teeth.  All a person has to do is pop the hideous thing into their mouth, bite down on the mold with some 400 bristles, and grind for roughly 6 seconds.  An added benefit to the 3D-printed toothbrush is that it has a built in tongue cleaner.

Along with the somewhat over-the-top price of the Blizzident molded toothbrush, people interested in becoming an early adopter will have to also provide their own 3D scan—that’s an added trip to the dental office.
