According to a report published by Reuters, Google Play Store is likely to make its debut in China next year.
The sources claim Google is working on an exclusive version of Google Play Store for the Chinese market, so it won’t exactly be nearly identical to the international version of Google Play Store. Google will also reportedly filter any content that may be deemed ‘sensitive’ by China’s Communist Party and comply with the Chinese laws that require the company to store all the app data within the country.
Although a specific date hasn’t been confirmed, it is being rumored that Google Play will launch in China before early summer next year, after the Chinese new year. Payment options on the Chinese Google Play Store could include Alipay and WeChat Payment.
