A couple of months after they originally launched, the second-generation Chromecast and the Chromecast Audio have now made their way to the Indian market. Google has brought both its new casting devices to the country in what is a bigger launch than the one for the original Chromecast – both the new Chromecast and Chromecast Audio will be sold by multiple retailers this time around instead of being exclusive to a particular retailer.
The second-generation Chromecast brings a new design over the original and adds support for 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, which Google says results in faster streaming and reduces buffering times. The Chromecast Audio is pretty much the same hardware but only supports audio streaming. For Indian consumers, the new Chromecast and Chromecast Audio will feature six months of Saavn Pro and Hooq subscriptions for video and audio streaming. Both the Chromecasts are priced the same at Rs. 3,399 (roughly $51), which is almost double that of the US price but still lower than competing casting devices.
