Gionee today silently launched a new entry-level Android smartphone, the P5 mini.
The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with 480 x 854 FWVGA resolution and is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6580M chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. In terms of memory, the P5 mini includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion.
At the back, the smartphone features a 5MP primary snapper with an LED flash. For taking selfies, you get a 2MP unit on the front. Connectivity features include the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro USB 2.0, and GPS. Keeping the lights on will be an 1800mAh capacity battery, not too surprising since this is an affordable device aimed at emerging markets.
The dual-SIM handset will be available in three color options – Black, Blue, and White. No details regarding availability yet, but for now it looks like Nigeria will be the first market where the P5 mini will go on sale.
