GIGABYTE’s Radeon HD 6770 using Passive Cooling


GIGABYTE's Radeon HD 6770 has just retailed in Japan and the company's GV-R677SL-1GD, the Silent Series is aimed at users who prefer a quiet system as the 6770 is mounted with a large heat sink (and there is no heatsink fan). Read on.

The Radeon 6770 is an improved version of the 5770. Although both uses the same core, The Radeon 6770 has an improved video playback engine, Bluray 3D support and HDMI 1.4a. As you can see, the Gigabyte's GV-R677SL-1GD has an extra component (heatsink) on the side of the card. Users will need to take note of this to ensure that it can fit into the case before buying.  If one has enough space in the motherboard region, a bit of customisation can be done to mount two fans on the Radeon 6770 which will definitely improve the cooling. Overclockers will love to take advantage of this.
