Keeping up with the trend of RGB illumination on most computer components these days, GeIL has launched its flagship EVO-X Series DDR4 memory kits that feature Hybrid-Independent-Light-Module technology, which enables dynamic RGB LED illumination.
HILM fuses the LEDs, microprocessor, circuits, switch and dual-power-source in one modular solution, separating the entire lighting solution and circuitry from the memory module. This allows the memory module to perform at its full potential. Unlike the G.SKILL Trident Z RGB modules, the EVO-X DDR4 modules require additional power for the RGB LEDs. The RGB LEDs can be powered by 12V RGB power sables with select motherboards, or by 9V/12V fan power. When powered by select Asus, Gigabyte and MSI motherboards, users will be able to synchronize the illumination with the other components in the system, using Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and MSI Mystic Light Sync. If powered by a 9V/12V power source, users can choose between red, green, blue and RGB cycle modes via the Sliding Hot Switch.
The GeIL EVO-X Series DDR4 memory modules are available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB densities in DDR4-2133, DDR4-2400, DDR4-3000, DDR4-3466, DDR4-4000, and DDR4-4133 variants. You get to choose from two heatspreader colors – Glossy White and Matte Black. There is no word on the pricing yet, but we do expect it to be priced well below the G.SKILL Trident Z RGB, which is definitely a more appealing product overall.
