Save the date, smartphone, smartwatch, smart TV, digital camera, gaming and audio accessories enthusiasts, and expect Berlin, Germany to be invaded with exciting gadgetry!
Just because two very impressive mid-tier Xperia handhelds have rolled out with roughly a month to go until the commencement of IFA 2015, it doesn’t mean Sony will skip the fall’s most influential consumer electronics trade show.
Quite on the contrary, as it turns out, given the C5 Ultra and M5 are seemingly meant to whet our appetites in anticipation of the… Xperia Z5. Now, the regional Italian Twitter account of the Japanese OEM doesn’t invoke the purported Snapdragon 820 flagship phone by name, but since the Z3 broke cover last year, at the same European shindig, the sequence of events feels easy to foretell.
Besides, this year’s September 2 press conference is teased by a poster featuring, among others, a snazzy-looking albeit familiar copper handset. Hopefully, that long overdue redesign is nigh, and we’re simply dealing with a placeholder image here.
The same goes for SmartWatch 3’s likely looming follow-up, which badly needs an aesthetic overhaul, while the Walkman product roster is really lucky to be alive. No Xperia Z4 Tablet Compact? A razor-thin LED TV, gaming controller, DSLR and dapper pair of headphones instead? That’s… odd, but on many levels extremely intriguing.
Ah, who are we kidding, the Xperia Z5 is clearly the make-or-break event protagonist. And with 4 GB RAM, an improved Exmor RS 21 MP rear-facing shooter and 4,500 mAh battery in tow, it can’t possibly miss the mark, no matter what Samsung has in store for the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus.
