Galaxy S4 Zoom to pack 10x optical zoom in a 10 mm thick body

Fresh details of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom leak out, giving us a greater insight on Sammy's upcoming camera phone.

Fresh leaks continue to give us a clearer picture of what's next as Korean giant Samsung prepares to introduce a range of Galaxy S4 labelled smartphones. Along with the rugged Galaxy S4 Active, the cheaper Galaxy S4 Mini, there will be a camera phone (quite literally) dubbed as the Galaxy S4 Zoom (codenamed SM-C101).

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is a camera phone version of the camera only Galaxy Camera, albeit with features toned down. Some fresh new details regarding the handset has been confirmed giving us a lot of reason to get excited. The Galaxy S4 Zoom will pack an impressive 10x optical zoom, read optical and not digital. Coupling that with the fact that the S4 Zoom will only be 10 mm thick is nothing short of amazing. Cameras with 10x optical zoom are usually around 20 mm thick but Samsung has managed to keep it under 10 mm. Of course there will be compromises here and there (with regard to full fledged digital cameras) but who knows, Samsung might surprise us all!

Rest of the S4 Zoom specifications are identical to the S4 Mini with a 4.3 inch qHD (960 x 540) Super AMOLED display, 8 GB storage, microSD card slot and the usual. The phone will reportedly be launched in week 23 (black color, week 25 for white version) of 2013 putting the launch time frame at June.
