The QWERTY keyboard accessory for the Galaxy S6 edge+ is an important revelation.
Samsung’s making no attempt to stem leaks of its upcoming flagships, as both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ have once again been pictured live in the wild. The new images don’t reveal anything that we didn’t already know – the two devices look like larger counterparts of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and include Samsung’s new metal and glass design philosophy.
The interesting leak comes from leakster extraordinaire evleaks, who has published an image of a QWERTY keyboard cover accessory for the Galaxy S6 edge+. Samsung isn’t exactly used to making such accessories, raising the question of why it would suddenly start doing so. The keyboard seems to cover around 25 percent of the display, with the user interface shifted upwards to make up for the lost screen estate. That’s similar to the way the iPhone 6’s Reachability feature works, but with things shifting upwards instead of downwards.
Samsung’s Unpacked event, where the Note 5 and S6 edge+ will be unveiled, are less than a week away at this point, and it’s clear the company won’t have much to surprise the crowd with. If there are some other announcements it has up its sleeves, it wouldn’t be surprising to see those leak as well in the next couple of days.
