Fresh batch of Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors calls for March NYC intro and FHD screen

Despite regularly dependable sources allegedly “confirming” Samsung Galaxy S5’s specs and a company official pointing at the next big thing’s ETA, it seems there’s still room for last-minute change as far as both timelines and features are concerned.

The former actually continues to be heavily disputed among the conglomerate’s execs, who either don’t know what they’re talking about, or are trying to throw us off S5’s scent. Either way, March is the most believable deadline at the moment, fitting like a glove both the vague “spring” hints and the slightly more precise March-April suggestions.

So the “when” of the equation looks solved, now let’s focus on the “where”. Barcelona during next month’s Mobile World Congress is out of the question, since the event is scheduled for, well, next month, which leaves us with London and New York.

Why these two? Because they’ve traditionally been Samsung’s favorite Galaxy intro venues, and also because we have an Italian journalist and claimed “senior Samsung official” putting them on the table. But the S5 can’t be in two places at once. Or can it?

Well, if you don’t mind a wild guess, it’s not out of the question for the purported 5.2-incher to break cover simultaneously in a couple of glitzy locations. It may be fitting, as it eyes the title of 2014’s best smartphone.

Meanwhile, a User Agent Profile discovered by Phone Arena brings ominous news, as it lists the SM-G900A, believed to be AT&T’s S5 flavor, with an underwhelming 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution display. Guess regardless of “confirmations” and rock-solid info, it indeed ain’t over until the fat lady sings.

Finally, financial services holding firm Stifel is under the impression Synaptics has again landed Samsung’s orders for touch controllers on next-gen flagships, intending to improve gesture and pen recognition features on the S5 and Note 4. Wow, such precious insight.

Anyhoo, remember to take everything you hear about the S5 (including all the above) with a nice, (un) healthy pinch of salt to the very day of the formal announcement. Trust me, it’s for the best.
