First Mediatek MT6589T Turbo benchmarks reveals faster than HTC One X performance

Mediatek's updated MT6589T ('T' is for Turbo) chipset which can be found on the newly launche UMI X2 Turbo gets benchmarked, shows promising results.

UMI's X2 has been in the news for quite a while now. Packing a quad core chipset and 1080p display along with 2 GB of RAM and a good looking Samsung inspired design, all under $300 definitely makes you popular amongst people and in the news channel. Recently the company announced that their delayed X2 smartphone will now ship with the updated Mediatek MT6589T Turbo chipset. Yesterday, we posted up a comparison between the Mediatek MT6589 chipset variants as well as how the original chipset stacks up wot the Snapdragon S4 Pro and nVidia Tegra 3. And today, we have a user named "Zol" from UMI Forums who has conducted extensive tests on the new MT6589T chipset.

The rest of the UMI X2 Turbo specifications are pretty impressive, with 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB ROM and a 13 MP BSI camera sensor. Battery is rated at 2500 mAh (we were expecting 3000 mAh!). Coming back to the benchmarks, these scores actually allow this Mediatek powered cheap phone to pull ahead of yesteryear's HTC One X flagship smartphone (which packs an nVidia Tegra 3 T30 for reference). It even manages to pull ahead of Google's own Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 which is nothing short of impressive, while Sammy's Galaxy S3 is still out of reach (which scores in the mid-16000s in AnTuTu).

If you can read Chinese or are okay with Google's "Translate" option, you can head on to read the full review of the UMI X2 Turbo. The phone will be available in China and India within the week (5 to 7 days as UMI says). More reviews commenting on build quality and other features of the phone would help all those considering buying this budget beauty.
