After 3 years since the release of its predecessor the MDR-Z1R, the Sony MDR-1AM2 is the company’s refresh of its Signature Series. It brings back the same premium form factor, while including a host of new and improved features.
Compromising on sound quality isn’t an option these days and the 1AM2 understands that. With a frequency response up to a 100 kHz, aluminium-coated liquid crystal polymer diaphragms and the newly-developed 40mm HD driver unit, the 1AM2 is High-Resolution Audio compatible so you can listen to music exactly as the artist intended. Bringing back the Fibonacci patterned grill from the MDR-Z1R, the new headphones can support ultra high-frequency ranges to provide an unrivalled listening experience. In addition, the 1AM2 features silver-coated OFC (oxygen free copper) for less transmission signal loss. Lastly, in addition to the usual 3.5mm headphone jack, it also features a balanced 4.4mm jack for improved fidelity with players with balanced ports.
The 1AM2 is no stranger to comfort. They’re lighter than their previous model and feature ear pads for lasting comfort so you can enjoy them at home or on the go. The luxurious, comfortable synthetic leather ear pads are made of low-resilience polyurethane foam.
The headphones come in two stylish colour options – black and silver and will be priced at S$429 at all Sony Stores, Sony Centres and selected Sony authorised dealers from April 2018.
