DDR4 reference platform makes a showing at IDF

Intel teased attendees its developers’ forum with a real-world glimpse at a DDR4 reference design.

Enthusiasts around the world have been patiently awaiting the launch of DDR4 for quite some time.

At IDF, Intel helped fuel the enthusiasm and hype for the next-generation memory specification by showing off a system running DDR4 on an X99 motherboard with a Haswell-E processor.

As VR-Zone reported earlier, there will be compatibility issues with the X99 and older LGA 2011 chips because of memory controller issues.

DDR4 and Haswell-E will be available in the fall of 2014.
