Consumer Electronics Show 2011: What to expect?

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 will be held next week in Las Vegas, from 6 to 9 January. So what can one expect to see at the show? Well, here are some products that have mentioned on the web so far.

Taiwanese PC manufacturer, MSI, will be showcasing their latest laptops including the world’s fastest  G-series (17.3-inch GT780, 15.6-inch GT680 and GE620) with high performance discrete graphics; F-series  laptops with totem seal coating and color film print that protects against scratches; 15.6-inch CR650, CR640 and CX640 of the C-series notebook PCs designed for multimedia enjoyment; 12-inch Wind U270 and 13-inch X-Slim X370 for ultra-portability; and the 10.1-inch WindPad 100A tablet that is based on Android, and 10.1-inch WindPad 100W that runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS.


Samsung will be showcasing their Galaxy Player to rival Apple’s iPod Touch. The Galaxy Player resembles the Galaxy S smartphone but does not have the phone functions. Available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, the Galaxy Player will run Android 2.2 Froyo and features 1GHz CPU, 4-inch Super clear LCD display (800×480), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 3.2-megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera for video calls.

In addition, the Korean company will also showcase the Long Term Evolution (LTE) smartphones that are capable of providing high speed connections.


HP could be unveiling three PalmPad tablet devices – 9.7-inch, 8.9-inch and 7-inch. All three PalmPads will run WebOS 2.5.1 operating system and support Sprint 4G network. The company would also showcase the Sandy Bridge laptops, such as the HP Pavilion dv6 that was spotted in Singapore.
